Castleton
"18th Century Hall, vicarage and outbuildings at the centre of this popular village"
Breaks4Kids
Originally Castleton Hall, this building dates back to the 13th century and is close to Winnats Pass, Mam Tor, Peveril Castle and a selection of caves. YHA Castleton was a pioneer in the expanding Learn4Real program, and runs KS2 residentials on three topics - Invaders and Settlers, Contrasting Localities, and PE Challenge. All of our residential activity trips tie in with current curriculum. The activities are led by our own YHA staff and are fully risk assessed.
Great for...
Everyone, especially walkers and families.
Description
Originally Castleton Hall, this building dates back to the 13th century and, together with the former vicarage, stands at the heart of the village square. Walkers staying at YHA Castleton will be spoilt for choice. There are many fine routes around the valley which is overlooked by the spectacular Winnats Pass and Mam Tor, known as the shivering mountain. For families, Peveril Castle and a choice of underground caves are all within walking distance. Many popular Peak District attractions are just a short drive away including the magnificent Chatsworth House, Poole's Cavern, and Haddon Hall. After a hectic day, relax and enjoy a drink in the bar, with a carefully selected range of beers and wines available from 12 midday until 11pm.
